Tara's journey through the world of words began at the College of Charleston, where she immersed herself in English Literature, Classical Languages (Latin), and Theater. Her passion for storytelling blossomed early; she penned her first poem at the tender age of 9 and ventured into novel writing with a murder mystery at 11, which led to a precocious encounter with Stephen King's publisher, although they weren't quite ready for her far too youthful gore and mayhem.
A published poet, blogger, book reviewer, playwright, and photographer, Tara's creative talents know no bounds. She has honed her skills as a Freelance Editor and served as an Assistant to a west coast Literary Agent. Her dedication to the craft is evident in her participation in numerous writer conferences and her impressive record as a 13-time NaNoWriMo champion.
Tara's professional affiliations are as diverse as her interests. She has been a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America, the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, the Horror Writers Association, and the Poetry Society of America.
In 2024, she returned to academia to study Organizational and Professional Communications at Pennsylvania State University, where she excelled, making the Dean's List all five semesters she attended, and earning an invitation to join the Pi Delta Chi chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda. In Spring 2025, Tara was awarded 3rd place in the Penn State Collegiate Laws of Life Essay, which was focused on keeping humanity in the mix with AI by using the lessons from Marie Curie. In November 2025, she was inducted into the Society for Collegiate and Leadership Achievement (SCLA). She graduates Magna Cum Laude in May 2026.
April 2025 marked a significant milestone in Tara's career with the completion and publication of her first poetry chapbook, Fragments of Farewell. She published her first full collection of poetry, Echoes in Silence, in early Summer 2025. Her second collection of poetry, Call Me Miss Melancholy, was published in January 2026 along with The Anneslee Poems: A Poetic Character Study, which is a collection of poems written from the perspective of a fictional teenage character from an unpublished novel.
Her heroes, a blend of personal and literary inspirations, include her late mother, big brother, Emily Dickinson, Kate Chopin, Jane Austen, Taylor Swift, Irena Sendler, Claudette Colvin, Joan Didion, and Maya Angelou.
